Arthur Berry 100 Weekend Walking Tour

Celebrate the centenary of iconic Potteries artist Arthur Berry with a series of free guided walks through the places that shaped his life and work this summer.
Join us this August for the very first Arthur Berry Weekend Walking Tour, setting off from Ford Green Hall in Smallthorne - Berry’s birthplace and the neighbourhood that profoundly influenced his life and work. This inaugural walk, taking place on Sunday 10 August, will follow a route from Smallthorne to Moorland Inn, with local historian and author Mervyn Edwards as your guide.
Meet at the Ford Green Hall Café from 10.30am for an 11am start. The walk is free to attend and will finish around midday. This will be an inspiring opportunity to explore the streets and stories that helped shape one of Stoke-on-Trent’s most iconic artists. Duration = 1 hour approximately Free of Charge No need to book. Wear strong shoes, or walking shoes/boots. Also on:- -Sunday 17th August - Burslem to Middleport, meet from 10.30am at the Barewall Art Gallery, 2-4 Market Place, Burslem, Stoke-on-Trent ST6 4AT.
The tour concludes in Burslem where the Chartist Festival will be taking place in Burslem's market place. Duration is approx 1 hour. -Saturday 23rd August - Middleport to Wolstanton, meet from 10.30am at Middleport Pottery, Port St, Burslem, Middleport, Stoke-on-Trent ST6 3PE. The tour will conclude on Wolstanton High Street. Duration is approx 1 hour. This event is in collaboration with the Barewall Art Gallery.

Following a successful bid for £186,000 from The National Lottery Heritage Fund, we are pleased to present the Stoke-on-Trent 100: A Heritage Festival for the Centenary – as the city celebrates 100 years since receiving official city status.
This programme of events, jointly organised by the city council and key partners, highlights Stoke-on-Trent’s World Craft City Status, showcases the work delivered through the Living Heritage City initiative, and outlines the city’s ambitions for heritage in the future.
Join us for a city-wide celebration of the historic achievements of the city’s past, and look ahead to the future heritage legacy of the next 100 years. With opportunities to learn new skills, contribute to conversations, and support the city’s cultural heritage organisations.
